Academic-Residential Co-Curriculum (ARC) Fellows

ARC Fellows are appointed on an annual basis to amplify the work of the Academic-Residential Co-Curriculum in creating new opportunities for undergraduates to connect with faculty and instructors outside the classroom. Research has consistently shown such connection to have a positive impact on students’ holistic development. The intention is that through ARC, students can find mentors, discover new networks, and develop lasting professional relationships that will support and encourage them during their time at Stanford experience and beyond.

Our hope is that ARC Fellows will facilitate at least one initiative that will help to connect undergraduates with academic faculty and staff, organized with the assistance of ARC administrators and up to $1,000. This might be a coffee meet-up for a group or a ‘mixer’, or lunch, or an event and these can take place anywhere on campus. These opportunities would be principally designed for students whom we can reach through the residences or by a targeted invitation, and are not intended for departmental majors in the first instance, since there are program grants for declared students. ARC will ensure that all students have an opportunity to form professional relationships with faculty and instructors to build confidence, vibrant connections, and new communities of learners. The initiative aims to enhance faculty’s efforts to engage with students and to optimize students’ overall Stanford academic experience.
